Incident command system (ICS):

• Understanding the ICS structure, roles, and responsibilities for managing large-scale incidents. 

Fire safety codes and regulations:

• Knowledge of building codes, fire prevention standards, and legal requirements 

Hazardous materials response:

• Identifying hazardous materials, mitigation strategies, and safety procedures 

Rescue operations:

• Techniques for performing technical rescues, including confined space, high-angle, and water rescues 

Leadership and management skills:

• Effective communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, and team building 

Medical emergency response:

• Basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) depending on certification level
