Basics of Organizational GHG Accounting
Course Description
This course provides a structured introduction to organizational greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting in line with internationally recognized standards such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064. Participants will develop a clear understanding of how to identify, quantify, and report greenhouse gas emissions across organizational operations and value chains.

Day 3 – GHG Calculation Methods

  • Emission calculation principles and formulas
  • Fuel, electricity, and process-related emissions
  • Applying emission factors correctly
  • Managing estimated or missing data
  • Introduction to standard calculation templates and approaches

 

Day 4 – Developing the GHG Inventory

  • Structuring an organizational GHG inventory
  • Organizational consolidation approaches (equity share and control)
  • Baseline year selection and recalculation rules
  • Managing data gaps and uncertainties
  • Documentation and internal review processes

Day 5 – Reporting and Using GHG Data

  • GHG reporting formats and disclosure requirements
  • Supporting ESG, sustainability, and compliance reporting
  • Interpreting results and identifying reduction opportunities
  • Introduction to carbon management and decarbonization strategies
