Course Description
This course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of power quality issues, earthing (grounding) principles, and bonding practices essential for safe and reliable electrical systems.

  • IEEE and IEC standards overview

Day 2: Harmonics & Power Quality Analysis

  • Harmonic generation and propagation
  • THD, TDD, and harmonic limits per IEEE 519
  • Harmonic filters: passive, active, and hybrid
  • Case studies of harmonic problems in industrial systems
  • Software analysis tools (concept introduction)

Day 3: Earthing (Grounding) Concepts & System Design

  • Purpose and principles of earthing
  • Types of grounding systems (TN, TT, IT)
  • Ground resistance and soil resistivity testing
  • Earthing system design for substations and industrial facilities
  • Lightning protection grounding

Day 4: Bonding, Fault Currents & Safety Considerations

  • Bonding requirements to control touch and step potentials
  • Ground fault currents and earth return paths
  • Equipotential bonding for buildings and equipment
  • NEC/IEC grounding and bonding requirements
  • Safety considerations and risk reduction methods

Day 5: Troubleshooting, Mitigation & Practical Applications

  • Troubleshooting grounding and power quality issues
  • Selecting mitigation devices (UPS, surge protectors, filters)
  • Site assessment and practical measurement techniques
  • Real-world case studies and group exercises
  • Final course review and evaluation
Accreditation

RECTUS attendance certificate will be awarded to all participants who complete at least 80% of the total course duration.
